The Women’s Board

The Women’s Board of the American Heart Association, Greater Washington Region supports the AHA’s mission to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives; through the funds raised by the annual An Affair of the Heart Luncheon and Fashion Show. These funds are allocated to seven research grants to develop new and innovative technologies to combat heart diseases and stroke.

Meet our Women’s Board Chair

Penelope Shapiro

Nell Shapiro has been a member of the Women’s Board since 2009.  She served on a number of committees and co-chaired the 2017 “An Affair of the Heart” Luncheon and Fashion Show.  She is honored to serve as the Chair of the Women’s Board and advance its mission of supporting cutting edge cardiac research and promoting heart health for men, women, and children.
